Connections mean everything

So any of you ’08 or ’09 brides who are still booking vendors, listen up: Michael Bambino’s Wedding Mafia is going to change the way Cincinnati approaches planning a wedding. The consensus I get when I chat with clients is that The Knot is invaluable for getting vendor info, as are referrals from friends; bridal shows *can* be a nightmare, packed with scams and pushy salespeople;and people still love the thrill of buying big fat bridal mags despite the popularity of internet wedding research(usually at work; you know who you are-!)
But what I tend to hear is that there is usually at least one vendor a bride books(no matter how careful she is) that ends up being a disappointment.
What The Mafia is doing is pulling vendors together who have outstanding service ratings from their former clients, holding them to a standard of ethics, and standing behind their reputations as a group-kind of an Angie’s List for weddings, only much more interesting.
I think people will be blown away by the first Mafia Party (March 6 at the Savannah Center)-finally a way to experience vendors’ work without having brochures shoved at you. And I think it will be a lot easier to get fiances to a cocktail party that a bridalpaloozathon, if you are hoping to get him “involved”! There will be no “selling’ at the event; if you wish to chat further with a vendor, that’s your choice. There will also be no deluge of sales emails and calls after the event, so no need to give fake contact info. : )
As someone who has eschewed the big bridal shows for years, I am excited about the concept. My brides are sophisticated people who approach their wedding like a business project and want to be treated with respect, not like cattle.
I will post more details as they arrive…
